• Which courses incorporate the use of computer in teaching and learning?

= English Literature : Twentieth Century and Contemporary. In the subject we were required to read articles or review videos on our own given by the lecturers through emails before classes and then during class hours, we will have intellectual discussion on the matter.

• Were the computer-based activities related to any of the three stages of Computer Assisted Language Learning (CALL)?

= Yes. The activity is related to Communicative CALL and Integrative CALL.

• What are the important concepts in the three stages of CALL related to the activities?

= Communicative CALL : The computer acts as a member of the class as it contributes input to the discussion but it depends of the members of the class whether or not to accept it.

= Integrative CALL : The teacher involves in the discussion and the computer as a vehicle and a tool for interactive communication.

What is Varieties of English?

Varieties of English is the study of different English exist in the world. It also unveil the students to the history and origin of the English language. This course is designed to expose the different English to the learners. Some of the subtopics in this subject includes the Queen English also known as Received Pronunciation (RP), the differences between American and British English, Nigerian English, Singaporean English as well as Malaysian English. The subject also teaches the students about pidgin and creole, spread and stratification, language variation and language change as well as context.

As an introduction, let us brief the purposes of this blog. Firstly, the existence of this blog is as an aid for students in learning the subject Varieties of English. Through this medium, they will be able to acquire knowledge of the subject. We will provide ample and substantial input as an additional information for learners. The blog is also created as a medium for sharing the knowledge and input that we have learned in Computer Applications in Language Studies class. We will include all the graded assessments as well as reflections in the blog.
